Hi!

I just received against all odds my EOS 5DMkII ! I'm happy to go for a full-frame body, it'll change from the EOS 400D I had before! The RAW are quite huge: from 24 to 29Mb each, but hey, it's a 21MP. I have tried the video and as everyone says, you really should turn off the AF and IS AND find an external mic, otherwise the soundtrack would only be lens adjustment!
I wont bother you with all the technic things, other have already reviewed them extensively!

Here are two of the first pics I've made with it...

5DMkII - 1
1/60s @ f5 - ISO 2500 - 28-135mm (no adjusting, only cropping)

5DMkII - 2
1/160s @ f5 - ISO 6400 - 28-135mm (no adjusting, only cropping)

I'll also take this opportunity to wish you all an excellent year to come, 2009 reasons to be joyfull, to fulfill your projects and your dreams! May we all together improve peace and respect on Earth!
Cheers!

Bast

Last Friday, I was shooting the Bast concert at "La Maison de la Culture" in Tournai, south Belgium.
Bast is a musical project of Laïla Amezian (vocals), with Michaël Grébil (electric guitar, 'oud & electronics), Erwin Vann (sax & electronics), Axel Gilain (doublebass), Stephan Pougin (drums & percu), Patrice Hardy (sound engineer).

You can see a selection of the pictures here. (open in a new window)

The site is being updated, please be patient if some links don't work or aren't accurate.
I changed the frontpage as you could see, for one arrive directly on pictures and not text. There's 3 portfolio: 1st one is about people, 2nd about travels and places and 3rd about landscapes. I could say that these are my three favourites themes but it would be short, as what I like is to photograph every interesting moment/place I come about... but it's a wide subject!

Another change is stories. I realized I hadn't showed stories yet, so here it is! Of course this menu should be growing by the time. It's also about projects in progress.

So I hope you'll have a good time here, wandering through my images and if you have any comment, do not hesitate to send a message!
Thank you for coming from such diferents places in our little world, I saw references from more than 26 differents countries! (and thanks to Lightstalkers.org and Jpgmag.com for this opening!)

Enjoy!

Olivier

"Photographers go to the extreme edges of human experiences to show people what's going on. They believe your opinions and your influence matter. They aim their pictures at your best instincts: generositiy, a sense of right and wrong, the ability and the willingness to identify with others, the refusal to accept the unacceptable." --James Nachtwey.
