Sebastian Scotney kindly asked me if it was ok to insert an image I took from Tcha Limberger, the gifted gypsy blind musician, during a little improvised concert. Sure it is!
Here’s a link to his excellent blog, all you want to know about jazz in London! Thanks Sebastian for asking, it’s kind of rare nowadays!

Street art – Festival de Chassepierre

September 1st, 2009

Festival de Chassepierre
I went to the 35th edition of Chassepierre street art festival on Sunday 23 of August. Great sunny day! Chassepierre is a small village near Florenville, in the Gaume, South-East, near Luxemburg. There was so many things to see, about 237 artists and 30,000 people during the all week-end! It’s quite a well-known festival, normal for a 35th edition you might say!
I enjoyed most of the shows I’ve seen, and it was a challenge to see all I wanted to see without stressing and still enjoying the sunny day… At night, after a good pancake filled with cheese, egg, tomatos and ham, we discovered Sonny and his Wild Cows, a genuine rockabilly band better known in Hungary –their homeland– as “Mister Rythm ‘n Blues”, they rocked the place as hell, it was so fun!
You can visit the official site here, my pictures here and a tighter edit here.

Rouge Festival

April 2nd, 2009

Last Sunday (28/03/09), the Socialist party organised a meeting which was followed by an afternoon of concerts and animations just by the Place Flagey in Brussels. I’m really not in politics but I have to say they’re good to organize events! And with luck, the weather was sunny, which helped to gather people…

Elio Di Rupo, the Socialist party president, opened the meeting, and other political celebrities such as Nyrup Rasmussen, Martine Aubry, Jean-Claude Marcourt… (didn’t memorized them all) made short appearences between the performances.

I had the pleasure to see my former capoeira instructor, Bras, who was there with his Bloco Sampoeira, a mix of capoeira and samba music, with all the drums. I also came to know the Don Fiasko, a Balkans electro brass-band… Not sure they came for the Balkans, but their music definitely ! Both made people jump and laugh! I unfortunately couldn’t stay to see Marka and Laurence Bigot’s “Monsieur et Madame” performance… Next time!

So, if you want to see the pictures in larger size, just go on my homepage!

March 16th, 2009

I was invited by Luisa Gherdaoui to photograph her performance “La femme au moineau” at the cultural center Maalbeek in Brussels on Saturday 14/03. After the performance, singer Beidjah Rahal held her concert of traditionnal algerian music.
